How do I get back into right standing with God?
Do not condemn yourself! God is not impressed with your sin. He is more concerned
with you getting it right again then He is about what ever you did to get you to this
point. He says in Isaiah 1:18 - "'Come now, and let us reason together. Though
your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like
crimson, they shall be as wool.'" (NKJV) In other words, do not dwell on it, go to Him
- He has the power to cleanse and deliver you.
Remember that God has left grace and mercy in His word. However, just because He
has extended to us grace, this does not give us free course to continue in a life of
sin. To do so is to take advantage of God's grace. Romans 6:1, 2 says: "What shall
we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How
shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" (NKJV) We must instead make a
conscientious decision to live a life that is pleasing to God, to use our bodies as
instruments of righteousness unto Him, to serve Him and Him alone! For sin does not
have power over us - we have power over it! (Romans 6:12-16)
Living a life that is contrary to the word of God, removes the umbrella of grace that
covers you. However, recognizing your error and confessing your sins before God
brings you back into right standing with Him again. I John 1:9 declares "If we
confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness." (NKJV)
When you fall, confess your sins immediately and God's forgiveness is immediate.
The awesome part of it all is not only does He forgive you, but He also tosses your
sins in the sea of forgetfulness - remembering it no more. Hebrew 10:17: "Their
sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." (NKJV) God is not hanging
anything over your head and neither should you!
Are you ready to confess your sins before God?
Repeat this prayer.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I acknowledge my transgressions and that I have
sinned against you. According to your Word, "If we confess our sins, you are faithful
and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Thank
you for your forgiveness and restoration. I know that "my sins and lawless deeds
you will remember no more." "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right
spirit within me . Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation." I confess "sin will not
reign in my body and that it no longer has dominion over me." I purpose in my heart
that "nothing shall separate me from the love of Christ . for I am more than a
conqueror through Him that loved us." Thank you for receiving me back, In Jesus' name - Amen!
